Be the Leader Council

Rising fifth graders at Riverside have the opportunity to apply for our BTL Council, a group of "leaders among leaders." This select group serves as an example of student leadership and fills a critical role in the shared governance of our school. These students participate in a number of activities that extend personal leadership development beyond the BTL Academy experience. 

Be the Leader Academy

Every 4th and 5th grade student at Riverside participates in the BTL Academy, a class that focuses on identifying and developing the leadership potential in each of our students. Topics include the discovery of personal strengths, working together in groups, conflict resolution, The Seven Habits, character education, and career exploration.

As part of the Academy, each student is encouraged to complete at least two hours of community service during the school year. An important part of leadership development is service, and we believe strongly in giving students the opportunity to experience servant leadership.
